Senior Sanctions Specialist Screening and Systems
Let's connect: If you want to experience how things are done in the GLS Com. Sanctions Operations & Research team at our headquarters in Hannover / Germany, join us on a part-time basis (roughly 30 HPW) commencing as soon as possible as a Senior Sanctions Specialist Screening and Systems. You are responsible for assessing complex cases arising from financial sanctions screening. You will also work at the interface between Compliance and IT and help shape the future of our sanctions infrastructure together with internal and external partners.
You can look forward to
- Independently reviewing and assessing complex cases identified through checks against national and international sanctions lists
- Analysing ownership and control structures as well as beneficial ownership as part of Know Your Customer (KYC) reviews to identify and assess potential risks
- Maintaining business partner data within our internal Business Partner system
- Advising our business units and international offices on complex sanctions-related matters
- Actively contributing to the further development and enhancement of our sanctions infrastructure at the interface between Compliance and IT
- Translating business requirements into technical concepts and supporting the development, testing and implementation of new solutions in collaboration with IT teams and external partners
You come equipped with
- A university degree, for example in Business Information Systems, Business Administration, Economics or a comparable qualification
- Several years of relevant professional experience in sanctions compliance, financial sanctions, business partner screening, KYC, anti-money laundering or regulatory compliance, including experience in assessing suspicious cases and managing complex review processes
- A strong understanding of economic and regulatory frameworks, with the ability to assess risks independently
- Strong technical understanding and experience working with IT teams and external service providers; knowledge of screening, data quality or compliance systems such as Oracle Watchlist Screening (OWS) and Enterprise Data Quality (EDQ) would be an advantage
- Experience in analysing and preparing data; knowledge of SQL and experience using database tools such as TOAD (Quest Software) would be beneficial
- Fluent English language skills and conversational German language skills; additional language skills such as Spanish, French or Arabic would be an advantage
- Strong communication skills, a confident manner and the ability to explain complex topics clearly, while making sound decisions in challenging situations
