Team Manager, Head of Traditional Business Acquisition & Development
We are currently hiring a Team Manager, Head of Traditional Business Acquisition & Development to join the L&H team in Malaysian Branch. The role involves leading the team in facilitating the branch to achieve targets and objectives according to own roles and responsibilities (business development, product & pricing and related additional services, treaty wording, business performance review). Review and provide proper general advice, guidance and direction for all business development, product and pricing requests in accordance with MalBr L&H Business Development Strategy and Strategy Contribution MalBr. Manage communication with internal and external stakeholders for Marketing, Product and Pricing related matters, oversee job assignments and resource planning, and drive staff development. Continuously assess potential alternative processes to be as agile and efficient as possible while complying with Guidelines and Regulations.

Business Development:
- To participate to MalBr business development strategic plan to grow a sustainable book of business.
- Seek new business opportunities through client and partner relationships aligned with Hannover Re’s objectives.
- Understand client strategies to assess needs in product design, underwriting, claims, distribution, administration, and pricing.
- Develop tailored and innovative reinsurance solutions to meet client expectations and market demands.
- Lead client engagement to ensure excellent customer experience.
- Enhance consulting, innovation, and service offerings.
- Coordinate reinsurance propositions and explore new business potential.
- Deliver presentations and training to strengthen client knowledge.
- Strengthen partnerships with insurers across MalBr L&H markets.
- Supervise reinsurance program implementation for compliance and profitability.
- Monitor market trends, regulatory changes, and innovations, including insuretech initiatives.
Marketing, Product and Pricing:
- Analyze and assess client needs and design reinsurance solutions aligned with business objectives.
- Manage product, pricing, and service development with clients and prospects.
- Ensure compliance with internal guidelines, documentation, and approval procedures.
- Maintain updated records of marketing, product, and pricing activities.
- Handle client queries efficiently and maintain high service standards.
- Continuously improve marketing, product, and pricing processes.
- Lead research, product innovation, and design initiatives.
- Own the quotation process and implement relevant enhancements or automation.
- Leverage data and partnerships to strengthen pricing, valuation, and risk insights.
- Conduct actuarial and statistical surveys and communicate findings to clients.
Treaty Administration:
- Ensure reinsurance agreements and addendums are properly prepared, documented, and signed.
- Provide administrative support on treaties, actuarial calculation bases, and systems.
- Support technical accounting in improving data quality and client communications.
- Monitor administration processes, identify weaknesses, and implement corrective actions.
Business Performance Review:
- Collaborate with Valuation, Data Management, and Analytics teams on actuarial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Conduct experience analyses, pricing, and product reviews; recommend revised terms for existing treaties.
- Maintain comprehensive records of performance reviews, analyses, and client communications.
- Establish risk indicators to monitor portfolio profitability and overall business performance.
- Support actuarial, capital, and risk management matters; identify treaties or products requiring close monitoring.
Leadership:
- Lead, mentor, and develop team members to ensure proficiency in relevant tools and adherence to guidelines.
- Foster collaboration across Hannover Re MalBr departments to achieve strategic objectives.
You come equipped with
- Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science or a related field.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in the insurance and reinsurance industry.
- Strong technical and actuarial skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proven leadership and people management experience.
