Business Analyst
The Role:
The Business Analyst will support the Branch in its commitment to innovation and efficiency. You will utilise your expertise in planning, communication, and analysis to deliver the business transformations vital to our future operating model. Incorporating your knowledge of process redesign and implementation, you will be wholly committed to the discovery and development of innovative solutions in an ever-changing business landscape.
You will collaborate with project managers, business representatives, end-users, technical teams, and experts across the business on key IT enabled business change projects to maximise the value generated from our activities.
You will work with key stakeholders to identify the technical, organisational, people, systems, and process impacts and changes, whilst providing effective consultancy to projects, advising on the Business Analysis tasks and deliverables required. You will have accountability for the scoping, planning, and subsequent delivery of Business Analysis activities within the Reinsurance Operations team and wider Branch.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Provide business analysis expertise to support the efficiency and effectiveness of the Branch’s reinsurance operations, and support the wider delivery of the Branch and Group projects including:
- Act as the key interface between Reinsurance Operations and the Data Management team by supporting the development and implementation of data solutions by collecting, reviewing, documenting, and communicating business requirements and managing the testing and successful implementation of solutions.
- Develop query tools and rules for client data validation. Support the upskilling of the Reinsurance Operations team in using these tools and collaborate with Data Management to implement automate complex queries.
- Perform ad-hoc client data validation, including large case reporting, rate checking and data consistency checks and aim to automate these processes where possible.
- Develop and implement KPIs to measure client data quality and a process to ensure their effective ongoing monitoring.
- Continuously review reinsurance operations processes, working with the team and wider business to identify and implement improvements in efficiency, effectiveness, and control, and deliver actionable management insights.
- Drive the establishment of a robust control and governance environment within Reinsurance Operations, covering items such as documentation, testing, validations, and exception handling.
- Lead the development, validation and documentation of business requirements with Subject Matter Experts for end-to-end process improvements across the wider Branch.
- Act as a key interface between Reinsurance Operations, the Branch and wider Group by ensuring that local operational requirements are well understood and considered when developing new products, systems or processes and that the wider business needs are understood by the Reinsurance Operations team.
- Work with Reinsurance Operations, Business Development and the wider business to onboard new business. Ensure the operational requirements are well understood and appropriately documented.
- Develop a strong understanding of the Branch’s key treaties and wider UK reinsurance products and structures.
- Encourage challenge, trust, accountability as well as open communication and feedback among team members and across the Branch.
- Support business teams in the replacement of legacy systems with new tools and technologies to deliver greater process efficiency and stronger integration with Group standards.
- Undertake impact assessments for proposed process improvements and system developments, ensuring that the operational requirements are considered, and the wider business needs are understood.
- Build effective and sustainable relationships across the Branch and with Group to strengthen cross-departmental working and collaboration.
About You:
Technical Skills:
- A proven track record of business analysis throughout the project lifecycle, from eliciting user requirements that accurately capture user needs, through documentation in formats tailored to suit the intended audiences, to procurement, delivery and implementation of successful solutions and services.
- Experience of leading successful project delivery in a large organisation as a Business Analyst.
- Experience of mapping out ‘as-is’ and ‘to-be’ landscape and undertaking gap analysis.
- Experience of creating high quality process models using appropriate techniques and software, such as MS Visio.
- Experience of working with both agile and waterfall delivery methods is desirable.
- Experience with collecting, organising, and analysing large data sets.
- Sound understanding of IT principles, to be able to knowledgeably assess the potential business impacts of a proposed technical solution.
- Knowledge of relevant database technologies, programming languages, data visualisation, and reporting systems.
Preferred skills and qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in information technology, computer science or business studies.
- BCS Business analysis diploma.
- Proven ability to manage projects and user testing.
- Extensive experience with data visualization.
- High proficiency in technical writing.
- Knowledge of insurance or reinsurance business.
- SQL experience.
