Job Summary:

Analyzes actual and model estimated premium data to determine variances and collaborate with stakeholders to research solutions. Determines appropriate client actuarial mapping for new treaties and amendments. Works independently and leads initiatives to drive project milestones and process enhancements.

Essential Functions:

  • (50%) Premium Analysis: Collaborates with team to research and complete analysis of premium rates. Supports the downstream corporate actuarial modelling process by researching and completing Master Research Files (MRFs), including premium rate validation. Requires scoping non-linear projects (trial and error) to determine possible paths to resolution. Necessitates learning and understanding various internal systems and teams within Hannover Re Operations.
  • (30%) Issue Resolution: Solves Problems. Strategically evaluates issues that arise from premium validation and/or MRFs. Contributes to tracking, managing, and resolving these issues, including proactively coordinating with both internal and external parties.
  • (10%) Responsible for developing an in-depth understanding of the premium validation functions, including PRV and/or MRF.
  • (10%) Data Governance: Manages and documents processes to ensure accuracy and consistency of data.

Essential knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in a related discipline and/or equivalent work experience
  • 5 or more years of relevant technical, testing, or business work experience
  • Minimum of 2 years life insurance or reinsurance industry experience
  • Ability to work independently in a team environment and manage internal and external demands of position without direct oversight.
  • Ability to analyse disparate sources of data and generate data processing specifications
  • Ability to exercise sound discretion with regards to decision-making and resolve non-standard situations independently
  • Demonstrates an informed knowledge of multiple business areas to resolve problems for more complex recurring and new business initiatives.  
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft PC software: Excel, Word, Access, Visio, and Outlook
  • Extensive spreadsheet and database skills
  • Foundation of basic math and computational skills

Desired knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Reinsurance experience in accounting, auditing or administration.
  • Knowledge of reinsurance treaties, terms and conditions.
  • Ability to scope non-linear projects (trial and error) to determine possible paths to resolution.
  • Ability to interpret data to provide context that is actionable.
  • Understanding of and ability to run reports in SQL, Hyperion, OLB and Business Objects
  • Knowledge of Hannover Re systems and processes

Travel:

  • 5% - domestic with overnight stays

Total Compensation (Inclusive of Base + Bonus):

  • $75,900 - $102,700
