Hannover Life Reassurance Company of America (Hannover Re) is currently seeking talented candidates for our open Project Manager position. This is a Full-Time role within the CSS – Project Management Office department. Job Summary:

Provide project management and leadership for department so that corporate initiatives can be achieved.  Lead the coordination, tracking and execution of projects aimed at implementing new processes, improving existing processes, and triaging situations that have hit roadblocks within the organization so that Hannover Re’s business objectives are successfully realized. The Project Manager manages Strategic Spend and Enterprise project budgets and forecasting in order to ensure organizational funds and resources are allocated in accordance with the Operational Council’s strategic goals annually.

Essential Functions:

  • Project Management (50%)
    Manages the development and implementation of new or existing projects, or phase(s) of larger projects in support of strategic corporate objectives to ensure project or project phase(s) success. Completes project assignments within estimated timelines and budget costs.  Communicates with senior management and key business user’s project deliverables, issues, and benefits to ensure project success and transparency.  Follows PMO/LSP project methodology and processes employed to complete work activities within corporate guidelines.

  • Process Improvement (20%)
    Performs analysis to supply recommendations, options, and cost-benefit to projects assigned to enable management to make decisions.  Drafts business requirements and workflows for business community. If applicable to project, partners and coordinates with technical resources to deliver appropriate solutions. 
    Considers appropriate unit and user acceptance testing so that system enhancements are deployed successfully.  Prepares project, business decision, and training documentation so that business processes, procedures, and project artefacts are maintained and up to date. 
  • PMO Budget Control (15%)
    Participates in the review and resolution of budget discrepancies across Strategic Spend and Enterprise Portfolio project expenses with Project Managers and PMO leadership. Monitors project expenses to determine if allocated funds have been spent as specified. Held accountable for project budget variance reports to ensure compliance with approved project budgets.
  • PMO Development (15%)
    Participates in the development of new PMO project processes.  Champions PMO responsibilities and provides centralized contact for the organizational leadership. Helps to minimize resource acquisition barriers. Ensures appropriate PMO methodology is followed on PMO managed projects. Oversees all project budgets and manages them with the Project Managers. Participates in the resolution of project problems/issues/roadblocks where needed. Trains, mentors, and coaches in areas of expertise, in a formal or informal manner, so that other project team members understand the business processes, issue(s), or enhancement(s).  Helps mentor other project analysts to increase the knowledge and skillset on the team.

Essential knowledge skills and abilities:

  • College degree or equivalent business experience
  • 5+ years of enterprise-wide/cross functional project management experience
  • 3 or more years of life insurance, reinsurance or financial services industry experience
  • Works with business partners between multiple business functions to align technology solutions with business strategies
  • Ability to multi-task and juggle competing priorities; Works on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to analyze and prepare process flow diagrams
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft PC software: MS Project, Excel, Word, Visio, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Outlook.
  • Ability to document project issues and communicate in a professional manner both verbally and written

Desired knowledge skills and abilities:

  • PMP, CAPM, FLMI or other industry certifications or classes
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Knowledge of Hannover systems and processes
  • Familiarity with test management tools and best practices

Travel:

  • 5-10% domestic travel (with overnight stays)

Total Compensation (Inclusive of Base + Bonus):

  • $77,800 - $132,500
