Hannover Life Reassurance Company of America (Hannover Re) is currently seeking talented candidates for a full-time Sr Financial Reporting Accountant position, within the CSS – Financial Reporting & Corp Acc department. Job Summary:

 

A member of the IFRS reporting team responsible for preparing the quarterly IFRS reporting package to Group Accounting & Consolidation (GAC) using various tools, reports and data bases as necessary. Prepares financial reports and analysis for semi-annual IFRS board reports and internal reporting packages to GAC.

 

Essential Functions:

 

(75%) Quarterly and annual IFRS reporting package:
•    Prepare the balance sheet and income statement including the legal entity result with movements and segmentation as required by GAC; including the Notes section of the package.
•    Works with TRS OLB, Hyperion (Essbase and Hyperion reports) and PeopleSoft (including nVision Reports) in order to complete required reporting.
•    Work in SAP, Power BI, and MicroStrategy in order to complete financial statements.
•    Reconciles and posts data from source systems to general ledger and also records any adjusted entries to IFRS for proper classification and reporting in the reporting package.
•    Works closely with others from the Corporate Finance Reporting and Accounting team.


(10%) Board Book Financial Statements:
•    Preparation of the balance sheet and income statements for current period, prior periods, plans and forecasts as required for reporting to the board of directors.


(5%) External Auditors:

•     Prepare documentation required for quarterly reviews and annual audits of the IFRS reporting packages.

 

(10%) Special projects:
•    Work with the IFRS reporting team on special projects as needed.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
•    Degree in Accounting or related field 
•    5 years related experience and/or training in financial reporting, or equivalent combination of education and experience; insurance or reinsurance industry experience. 
•    Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills 
•    Strong analytical skills 
•    Effective organizational skills and ability to manage multiple competing tasks 
•    Advanced skills in Excel 
•    Experience with reporting/database software such as Hyperion (Smartview/Essbase and Hyperion Reports) and PeopleSoft. Ability to develop reports using these tools. 
•    Strong preference for experience with SAP, Power BI, and MicroStrategy
•    Self-motivated 
•    Availability and flexibility in meeting reporting deadlines

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as treaties and procedure manuals
  • Ability to effectively present information/results in one-on-one and small group situation to the other partners in the organization


Travel:

  • 10%  Periodic travel for department meetings or workshops


Compensation (Inclusive of Base + Bonus):

  • $92,000 - $124,400
