Job Summary:
Overall responsibility for the performance, budget and results of multiple related departments in the Operations. Position reports directly to the SVP, Operations and serves as a member of the Operations Leadership Team, partnering effectively with other senior managers in the broader COO Group to ensure overarching goals and objectives are communicated regularly and being achieved. Provides project leadership for key strategic and operational initiatives originated locally by Operations, with medium to high impact or risk to the organization.
Essential Functions:
- 35% Leadership
- Provides leadership and strategic direction to the departments to ensure organizational needs and goals are met. Sets policy, standards and methods, ensuring efficient and accurate processing, reporting, review and escalation.
- Identifies and implements opportunities for continuous improvement; establishes critical success factors, key performance indicators and time standards. Manages process exceptions and/or escalates to key stakeholders. Identifies and reports on trends and emerging issues, develops key strategies to mitigate future risks and capitalize on future opportunities.
- Drives results. Sets goals and is accountable for continuously driving improved performance, leading change, and ensuring high standards.
- Creates partnerships; authentically builds trusted relationships and collaborates across global, diverse and multi-functional teams to successfully drive business objectives.
- 30% People Management
- Hires and develops high performance teams that are highly engaged and recognized as experts both internally throughout the global organization and externally amongst our clients.
- Ensures all employees have a clear understanding of corporate and departmental objectives, and that employees have motivating personal objectives to optimize productivity, to strive for operational excellence and to facilitate strong performance.
- Provides challenging tasks and assignments and holds frequent development and feedback discussions with employees to provide career growth and development.

- 30% Planning & Project Management
- Develops and maintains operational budget for areas of functional responsibility within established guidelines.
- Sponsors, plans, manages and participates in large multifaceted projects from initiation through completion to ensure on-time results according to specifications and within budgeted costs.
- Oversees systems changes and pipeline activities required to support our single risk administrative platform partnering closely with the Information Technology department and key stakeholders in the business.
- 5% Industry Knowledge & Compliance
- Maintains awareness of both external and internal competitive and compliance landscape, customers, markets, new industry developments, standards and requirements to appropriately provide guidance to team members.

Essential knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, or related discipline and/or equivalent work experience
- Minimum 15 years of life insurance or reinsurance experience; industry or other professional designation
- Minimum 8 years of life insurance or reinsurance management experience of a team with broader scope of responsibilities
- Minimum 3 years of experience in complex project role with a proven track record of delivery, preferably in financial services industry.
- Advanced working knowledge of reinsurance administrative operations
- Excellent analytical, decision making and problem solving skills
- Demonstrated leadership skills that reflect experience driving meaningful change in the areas of operational effectiveness and productivity; also, demonstrated leadership skills to provide talent development and strategic direction.
- Highly self-motivated
- Strong communication skills. Ability to structure and create senior management level presentations, and converse with technical and non-technical people alike.
- Proven track record of relationship building across organizational and reporting lines
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Total Compensation (Inclusive of Base + Bonus):
- $168,100 - $227,500
