We currently have an exciting opportunity in our Life & Health subsidiary in Sydney which plays a major part in the success of Hannover Re globally.
We are seeking a Business Analyst to join our Group L&H Global Services Data Operations team. The role will be a 2-year fixed term contract position reporting directly to our Global Single Risk Product Owner.
About the role
As a Business Analyst you will be responsible for supporting the Product Owner in the Group’s L&H Global Services Data Operations solution and its components, ensuring that development, implementation, and continuous improvement activities align with the LHS-DOS strategy and data consumer needs.
You will support the management and coordination of product release communications, documentation, and support activities to ensure smooth deployment and usage of new software versions. This role plays a critical part in ensuring local offices are well-informed and supported before, during, and after product releases.
You will collaborate with project managers, business representatives, end-users, technical teams, and experts across the business on key IT enabled business change projects to maximise the value generated from our activities. This could involve travel of up to 2-3 weeks and may include locations from across APAC, Europe and the US or others.
You will work with key stakeholders to identify the technical, organisational, people, systems, and process impacts and changes, whilst providing effective consultancy to projects, advising on the Business Analysis tasks and deliverables required. You will have accountability for the scoping, planning, and subsequent delivery of Business Analysis activities across multiple projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Reviewing product release updates and generating clear and comprehensive release notes for distribution to local offices that are accurate, concise, and easy to understand for all users.
• Evaluating and approving the User Guide documentation ensuring it is complete, up-to-date, and user-friendly for all stakeholders.
• Leading product release demonstrations for local offices and providing post-release communications ensuring users are informed about new features and functionality.
• Reviewing and managing support requests from local offices, ensuring timely and effective resolution of issues or queries.
• Assisting in managing the product backlog by evaluating and prioritising tasks, working to reduce the list of outstanding items and ensuring smooth product development progress.
• Assisting with general user communications, ensuring messages are clear, consistent, and aligned with the product’s goals and approved deliverables.
• Reviewing and developing user stories ensuring user stories are clearly defined, actionable, and prioritized to meet the business and user needs.
• Encouraging challenging, trust, accountability, and open communication among colleagues in all locations.
You come equipped with
Experience & Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in information technology or computer science is preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in working on complex projects and user testing, preferably in a global capacity in the Life Reinsurance, Reinsurance and or Insurance industries
• High proficiency in writing skills, including technical writing with a strong knowledge of both Australian and European Privacy rules and requirements
• A proven track record of business analysis throughout the project lifecycle, from eliciting user requirements that accurately capture user needs, through documentation in formats tailored to suit the intended audiences, to procurement, delivery and implementation of successful solutions and services.
• Experience of leading successful project delivery in a large organisation as a Business Analyst.
• Experience of mapping out ‘as-is’ and ‘to-be’ landscape and undertaking gap analysis.
• Experience of working with both agile and waterfall delivery methods is desirable working in a SCRUM environment or methodology.
• Highly skilled in working with a range of differing stakeholders, across all levels with the ability to decipher conflicting information and communicate effectively.
• Sound understanding of IT principles, to be able to knowledgeably assess the potential business impacts of a proposed technical solution gained through working on regulatory and or data projects with both in house and external systems
• Knowledge of relevant database technologies, programming languages, data visualisation, and reporting systems.
