We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Data Insights Actuary to join our Life & Health Subsidiary in Sydney.

 

About the role:

Reporting directly to the Head of Data Insights, this permanent role is part of our Data Insights team. As a Data Insights Actuary, you will be responsible for experience monitoring and delivering high‑quality insights across the HLRA portfolio, while supporting data management and quality initiatives across the business.

You can look forward to

  • Design, deliver and maintain portfolio analytics to support HLRA business units 
  • Perform experience analysis and monitoring across key insurance risks, including mortality, morbidity and lapse
  • Contribute to actuarial and statistical modelling, including review of assumption bases for valuation and pricing across product lines
  • Prepare clear, insightful reporting for ongoing monitoring and ad‑hoc deep‑dive analyses (e.g. lapse and claims)
  • Collaborate with Actuarial, Business Development, Data Operations, Reinsurance, Claims and IT teams to resolve data issues and improve data quality
  • Review the accuracy of premium bordereaux and identify required corrections
  • Support the development and maintenance of efficient processes to enable effective data analysis
  • Provide guidance, mentoring and review support to actuarial analysts
  • Drive continuous improvement in analytical processes and develop practical solutions to emerging business issues

You come equipped with

  • FIAA (or equivalent) with 5+ years’ relevant experience in the life insurance industry; life reinsurance experience preferred
  • Advanced skills in statistical and programming languages such as R and SQL, with experience using data visualisation tools
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a high level of attention to detail
  • Highly organised, with the ability to prioritise effectively and meet deadlines
  • Clear and confident communicator with strong written and verbal skills
  • Able to work autonomously while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment
