About the role:
Reporting directly to the GM Direct Business, this permanent role is part of our Direct Business team. As our Head of Direct Products & Pricing, you will be responsible for fostering the development of sustainable product solutions and pricing of the Direct business. The role encompasses product design, pricing strategy, and ongoing performance monitoring to ensure commercially sound, customer-focused and compliant outcomes across the product lifecycle.

This is a leadership role with accountability for both people and outcomes across Direct Products and Pricing. You will lead a team while shaping sustainable product solutions, driving commercial performance, and ensuring strong governance in a highly regulated environment.
In this role, you will:
- Lead the development of Direct product solutions, working closely with clients to deliver sustainable outcomes and overseeing the design and implementation of new product initiatives, including approval of all supporting materials.
- Own the end-to-end pricing strategy, guiding both new business pricing and the repricing of in-force portfolios, ensuring alignment with business strategy, risk appetite and governance requirements.
- Provide strategic direction on pricing decisions, challenging assumptions and methodologies to ensure outcomes appropriately balance profitability, sustainability and customer value.
- Drive commercial outcomes, leading and supporting negotiations with clients and partners to deliver well-structured, mutually beneficial agreements.
- Monitor portfolio performance and market developments, ensuring emerging trends and experience are reflected through timely pricing and portfolio management actions.
- Ensure robust governance and regulatory compliance, including oversight of pricing documentation, audit trails, and adherence to DDO requirements, APRA prudential standards, and internal policies.
- Fulfil accountability obligations, including responsibilities under the Financial Accountability Regime, maintaining strong product governance and escalating risks or breaches appropriately, while engaging constructively with APRA and ASIC.
- Lead stakeholder engagement and delivery, working collaboratively across the business, overseeing onboarding processes, and acting as a senior point of contact for key client relationships and strategic discussions.

We are looking for an experienced and credible leader who combines technical expertise with a collaborative and forward-thinking approach. You will bring:
- Significant experience in life insurance (10+ years), underpinned by a strong understanding of the industry.
- Qualified Actuary, with the technical depth to support complex product and pricing decisions.
- Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to navigate negotiations and deliver balanced, win-win outcomes.
- Proven people leadership capability, with experience guiding teams and fostering a collaborative, high-performing environment.
- Well-developed relationship management skills, enabling you to build credibility and influence with clients and internal stakeholders.
- Clear and effective communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information in a straightforward and impactful way.
- Strong problem-solving capability, with the ability to deliver outcomes and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent organisational skills, with a high level of attention to detail and the ability to prioritise effectively.
- A collaborative approach, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a broader team.
- A high degree of professionalism and integrity, including the ability to manage confidential information appropriately.
