We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Reinsurance Pricing Actuary to join our Life & Health Subsidiary in Sydney.

 

About the role: 

Reporting directly to the Senior Pricing Manager this permanent role will be responsible for accurate and timely deliverance of actuarial pricing analyses, under appropriate supervision and governance frameworks and across a complete range of reinsurance solutions for new business opportunities, existing client base and internal pricing bases.

•    Pricing new business, renewals and in-force portfolios across Group, Retail, Retirement and Financial Reinsurance. 
•    Partnering with Client and Reinsurance Solutions teams to deliver actuarial insights that support commercial decisions. 
•    Enhancing pricing models, tools and processes through continuous improvement. 
•    Working with large, complex datasets to generate pricing, portfolio and client insights. 
•    Analysing experience trends, profitability drivers and emerging risks to influence pricing and portfolio strategy. 
•    Leveraging automation, technology and modern analytics to improve efficiency and productivity. 
•    Building relationships with stakeholders across the business and contributing to key decisions. 
•    Preparing and maintaining reinsurance treaty documentation. 
•    Staying close to industry trends, market developments and experience research. 
•    Growing your professional network within the life insurance actuarial community. 
•    Contributing to marketing and business development activities that help grow the business.

You come equipped with

•    Qualified Actuary or close to qualification (FIAA or equivalent), with ideally only 1-2 exams remaining.
•    4+ years' experience in the life insurance industry, with exposure to pricing, experience analysis or related actuarial work.
•    Strong understanding of life insurance products, actuarial modelling and market dynamics.
•    Advanced Excel skills and strong actuarial technical capability, including problem solving and sound judgement.
•    Experience with, or a passion for developing skills in, analytical and automation tools.
•    Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for both actuarial and non-actuarial audiences.
•    Strong stakeholder management skills and the confidence to escalate and collaborate when needed.
•    A proactive, curious and improvement-focused mindset, with a keen interest in technology, automation and AI.
•    High attention to detail, professional integrity and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
•    A collaborative approach, balanced with the ability to take ownership and work independently.

Desirable: Experience using coding and data analytics tools such as R, SQL or Power BI.
