We are a major player in the Life & Health reinsurance market in Australia and New Zealand and we have the benefit of being small and nimble but with the financial backing of one of the largest reinsurers in the world.  We currently have an exciting opportunity in our Life & Health subsidiary in Sydney which plays a major part in the success of Hannover Re globally. 

 

We are seeking a Senior Group Pricing Actuary to join our team for a 12-month maternity cover position, reporting directly to our Head of Group Pricing.

As a Senior Group Pricing Actuary you will be responsible for accurate and timely deliverance of actuarial pricing analyses of group reinsurance for new business opportunities, existing client base and internal pricing bases.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

•    Pricing, reviewing and writing up pricing documents of new business and renewals of group insurance/reinsurance within agreed deadlines
•    Providing actuarial input to the Client and Reinsurance Solutions teams for group insurance product terms and conditions advice
•    Maintaining GL and GSC actuarial pricing models, including loss ratio models, credibility models, termination, and profit share costing
•    Keeping up-to-date with market research/reports on group insurance experience analyses and market developments 

You come equipped with

Experience & Qualifications:

 

We are seeking a qualified actuary (FIAA or equivalent) with at least five years’ experience in the Australian life insurance sector. Ideally you will have in-depth knowledge of group insurance products and current market trends, along with advanced actuarial modelling expertise and strong technical skills in MS Office—particularly advanced Excel. 

 

To be successful in this role you will need to have demonstrated experience of sound actuarial judgment and problem-solving, excellent attention to detail, and a high level of accuracy. 


The role requires effective written and verbal communication skills for engaging with both actuarial and non-actuarial stakeholders, as well as proven experience in managing stakeholder expectations and issue escalation.

 

You will be someone who can take ownership of their work, deliver results within deadlines, and effectively prioritise tasks as the position demands initiative to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
