Senior Internal Auditor

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Internal Auditor to join our Life & Health Subsidiary in Sydney.
About the role:
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this permanent role is part of our Global Internal Audit team. As a Senior Internal Auditor, you will be responsible for preparing, conducting and documenting audits as well as presenting their results to management and the board. In addition, you will be responsible for reporting of audit results, findings and measures in writing and then following up on agreed measures.
You can look forward to
- Plan, conduct and document internal audits across HLR Australia and selected international locations
- Develop audit recommendations, support implementation and perform follow‑up of agreed actions
- Present audit findings and recommendations to Management, Audit Committee and/or HR Board
- Prepare clear, high‑quality audit reports and Audit Committee papers in line with applicable standards
- Perform reviews of material outsourcing arrangements in line with CPS 230
- Conduct third‑party audits, including cedant and distributor reviews
- Provide consulting and advisory support on risk, governance and controls
- Deliver monthly reporting and maintain regular engagement with the Executive Team, Branch Management and key stakeholders
- Identify control gaps and unmitigated risks, agreeing clear remediation actions with management
- Support projects and technology-driven improvements within the Group Audit function
You come equipped with
- 5+ years’ internal audit experience, ideally across finance, compliance, risk and operational audits
- Financial services experience preferred
- Degree in Business, Finance or related field
- Strong knowledge of risk management, governance and internal control frameworks
- Ability to engage confidently with senior management and Boards
- Excellent analytical, organisational and communication skills
- Interest or experience in data analytics and AI
- Self motivated, able to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to stay current with Australian insurance law and prudential standards
