Job Summary:
Responsible for overseeing all day to day accounting functions within the organization, ensuring the accurate and timely reporting of financial information in compliance with accounting principles and insurance industry regulations. This role will work closely with senior management, external auditors and tax consultants, regulators and other stakeholders to support financial decision-making, manage accounting operations, and improve internal controls.
Essential Functions:
- (30%) Financial Reporting
- Oversee the preparation and filing of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with Statutory Accounting Principles. Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual internal reporting to parent company in accordance with IFRS17 standards. Analyze financial reports, ensuring accuracy and completeness, and assist in preparation of internal management, board of directors and external reporting.
- (30%) General Ledger and Data Management
- Supervise and maintain the general ledger, ensuring that all transactions are recorded accurately and promptly. Ensure proper allocation of premiums, claims, reinsurance, and other insurance-related transactions. Oversee the design, development and implementation of internal systems and software to meet data reporting requirements from internal and external systems
- (20%) Budgeting and Forecasting
- Direct the development of the company’s annual revenue and expense budget and forecast. Monitor financial performance against the budget and provide variance analysis and reports.
- (10%) Compliance, Audit and Internal Control
- Ensure adherence to all relevant accounting standards, regulations, and insurance industry guidelines. Coordinate and support external audits, internal audits, and regulatory examinations. Develop, implement, and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial accuracy. Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies within accounting functions.
- (10%) Tax Compliance
- Oversee the preparation and filing of insurance-related taxes, including premium tax and other local, state, and federal taxes. Coordinate with tax consultants to ensure compliance with tax regulations.

Essential knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- Relevant professional accounting certification (e.g., CPA, CFA).
- 10+ years of demonstrable experience as Financial Director, Chief Financial Officer, or in a senior finance leadership role within the insurance industry.
- Strong knowledge of insurance industry-specific statutory accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in IFRS17 and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Working knowledge of insurance tax accounting preferably for international entities.
- Experience leading financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Familiarity with accounting software.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail and experience integrating system solutions.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to work with senior management and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and senior management.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- High level of integrity and dependability.
Desired knowledge, skills and abilities:
- External insurance audit experience a plus
Travel:
- 25% - Domestic and international travel with overnight stays
Total Compensation (Inclusive of Base + Bonus):
- $221,000 - $299,000
