Technical Financial Accountant
In Bermuda, the core subsidiary Hannover Re (Bermuda) Ltd. is a BMA regulated dual license reinsurer and has a focus on property catastrophe reinsurance contracts, mainly on an excess of loss basis, is a core part of Hannover Re and strategically operates as the Centre of Excellence for natural catastrophe risks.
We are currently seeking applicants for our TECHNICAL FINANCIAL ACCOUNTANT position. This position will be responsible for carrying out various aspects of the accounting function such as IFRS reporting and financial management.
Main Responsibilities:
- Ensure all technical bookings and settlements are processed accurately ensuring compliance with various reinsurance agreements, sanctions regulations, IFRS and Bermuda Statutory requirements.
- Significant role in the investigation of aged accounts receivable and unallocated cash balances working to resolve any accounting discrepancies or unresolved items.
- Follow the internal control framework, including documentation requirements and suggest changes to achieve efficiencies where appropriate.
- Reconciliation of intercompany transactions and balances and other activities to support the quarterly closing.
- Provide accounting support to internal stakeholders and effectively manage deliverables.
- Participate in ad-hoc reporting and project work on behalf of the Company as required.
- Work collaboratively in a team environment.
Requirements:
- Professional accounting designation such as CA, CPA or equivalent.
- Minimum of two (2) years of relevant post-qualification experience with accounting and reporting in an international (re)insurance environment.
- Experience of developing and maintaining successful client relationships.
- Ability to work independently with minimum oversight and demonstrate exceptional problem-solving skills in assigned technical areas.
- Strong IT and computer skills, with the ability to quickly learn and effectively use financial, accounting, and other business systems and applications.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong analytic skills and great attention to detail.
- Highest level of integrity and commitment to achieving goals.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
